Gold and silver needs to be viewed as more like insurance VS investment. Metals play an inverse role to all other diversified dollar based assets. When things like real estate or the equity markets are high, gold and silver tend to be low, etc.
This also needs to represent 10-15% of the client's nest eggs or it doesn't have enough offsetting power to act as a hedge. A lower overall percentage isn't going to help the client achieve the offsetting power.
